Review #915 (2022)
This is the ninth release in the Cask Strength series. It is made of one third first-fill Oloroso sherry, two thirds refill casks and a bit of ex-Bourbon barrels. Actually quite light on the nose. Dried fruits – mostly the lighter end of the scale.
Loads of flavours come rushing in at first sip. Sweet raisins and vanilla in the taste. Some spices and dried fruits as well. The finish is mostly sweet, with some spices and dried fruits in the mix.
It’s a very sweet expression. But the combination of the high strength and the sweetness is actually quite good! A bit different Glengoyne (it still has the Glengoyne character), and it’s most welcoming! I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
