Review #372 (2016)
This Single Cask from Malts of Scotland comes from a sherry butt with the number MoS12061 and only 585 bottles were made. The smell is full of heavy dried fruits. Especially plums! Some gentle oak and vanilla as well. Even though it is 58.2 % it aint rough on the nose, just full of flavors.
The taste on the other hand is very powerful regarding the alcohol. After it settles some great fruity flavors appears. Some spicy notes comes forward in the finish with black pepper as the dominant part. Still fruity though, but with more sweetness.
This needs water as the strength just is too much for the palate. But don’t worry, the taste doesn’t suffer from the water. It just makes it a bit more approachable. This is a bit different than the normal classic sherry influenced whisky you get from Glengoyne, but still very good. I will rate this 88/100 (22/21/23/22).
