”Bøg” or ”Beech” (translated from Danish), is the beech smoked expression from Thy Whisky. Only 741 bottles were made. A light smoky smell – bonfire smoke. Very woody, with hints of fresh green apples and vanilla. Then raisins and some spices take over.
The taste is deeper than the notes you get in the smell. Dried fruits and spices, with the smoky notes in the background. The finish is so soft and delicate, and you really get to enjoy the beech smoked malt, that emerges from the back of the dried fruits.
This is very interesting! Great Sherry influence, and another type of smoke, than what you normally get. I feel like I’m having a great time, sipping whisky by the campfire. I’m a fan, and this will not be the last time I will have one of their “Bøg” expressions! I will give this 85/100 (20/22/22/21).
