Review #857 (2021)
From Douglas Hamilton comes this Single Grain whisky. It’s a single cask with the cask number DH10250. Sharp at first on the nose. Then mild and sweet. Almost a touch of Rum (and just a dash of Jamaican Rum).
Much more going on in the taste. First a little alcohol kick, then white cake and candy. Some Christmas spices also joins the bakery. The sweetness lingers off in the finish, alongside vanilla and oak.
The smell is a bit closed, but it really opens up in the taste. Just make sure to give it some time in the glass (this also helps with the smell), before you dive in – you won’t be disappointed! I will give this 86/100 (21/22/22/21).
