Review #901 (2022)
This is the 2020 edition, of the 18 year old Double Cask. It is matured in a mix of American and European Oloroso Sherry casks. Elegant with a great balance of honey, oak and dried fruits in the smell.
The taste has a fantastic combination of dried fruits, spices, oak and lastly vanilla to encapsulate it all. Some oranges and toffee as well. The finish is long and warm. So many things are happening! Rum-soaked raisins and orange peel is mixing great with the dried fruits, oak and spices, that slowly lingers off.
Just a great experience! Fantastic balance, so elegant, and I don’t mind the low strength at all (not often you will hear me say this!!). A whisky that keeps giving, and you can keep finding new flavours. I will give this 91/100 (23/22/23/23).
