Review #835 (2020)

By Wilson & Morgan comes this Barrel Selection with the label “Matured in Sherry Wood”. It’s a single cask, from an Oloroso Sherry Butt, with the cask number 1083. A funny mix of vanilla, fresh red fruits, raisins and a bit of sourness in the smell. All mixed together.

Whisky like no one else than Ben Nevis can make. Round and soft sherry touch, but still with this Ben Nevis roughness in the taste. Red berries. The finish is sweet and long – raisins and oranges. Very dry…

This is bang for your bucks. Young, but still full of flavours. Don’t expect a Sherry bomb though. It is exactly what you would expect – more fresh than dried fruits, due to the young age, with that classic Ben Nevis character. I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
