Review #269 (2016)
From Bartels comes this single cask bottling from a Bourbon hogshead. A bit sweet in the smell mixed with some grassy and floral notes. It is a bit more fruity than the normal triple distilled Auchentoshan whisky from Bourbon barrels.
Some spices and honey (and floral) sweetness mixes at first in the taste. A little alcohol, but nothing noticeable. Again some fruity notes appear here in the finish. Like the sweetness you get from dried fruits, but without that heavy dried fruit flavor.
A lot of fruit influence considering it comes from a Bourbon hogshead. I really like the sweetness that varies in all of the stages. I know it is cask strength, but I would recommend being careful with water. I will give this 85/100 (21/21/22/21).
