Review #865 (2022)
This is bottled from ex-Bourbon (as the name suggests), where it have matured for 2 years. Before this, it started with a 2 year maturation in first fill French oak. Nice, sweet vanilla peat, in the smell. Fresh white fruits – especially green apples, but also a touch of exotic fruits.
Peat at first in the taste, but not overwhelming. Fresh cut grass, a bit of citrus and white fruits. The peat actually gets quite meaty in the finish. Nice oak touch in the end, with some spices mixing into the peat and cask influence.
I don’t want to talk about age, but still… I have tried so many peated travel retail Scotch Whiskies, which are just (put in a hard way) peated new make spirit… And then you taste something like this, which is young, but so far from under matured… I’m a fan! I will give this 85/100 (21/21/21/22).
