Review #872 (2022)

This is the first whisky by Lindores Abbey, released to the market. It is a mix of different cask types – Bourbon, Sherry and Wine. It is the same liquid as the “Commemorative First Release” (with 12.750 bottles released), but here they released 40.000 bottles. Calm on the nose, with a bit of everything from the different casks in the smell. Citrus, vanilla, dried fruits and dark berries.

Young, yet full of flavours in the taste. Citrusy vanilla and spices. Quite interesting, and a good choice to bottle this at 46%. Some oak and peppery notes in the finish. A bit too much sour citrusy notes for me, due to the young age…

This is of course quite young, but still, it’s full of flavours, and the casks have already done a big job. This distillery will be extremely exciting to follow, and I’m confident that we will see some fantastic whisky from Lindores Abbey. I will give this 81/100 (20/20/20/21).
