Review #787 (2019)
From Ian Macleod comes this Port finish, drawn from two casks with the cask numbers 90391-92. Only 1650 bottles were made. Sweet red fruits in the smell. The Port finish is clear – raisins and dried apricots.
A great mix of Tormore and Port cask maturation in the taste. Oak, vanilla, oak spices, raisins and hints of oranges. The finish is somewhat the same, but the dried fruits is more in focus here. Some red fruits – especially ripe cherries – as well.
It´s a proper finish, and you really notice the Port cask maturation, without it overpowering the whisky. It just might be a bit high rating, but this whisky is just right up my alley! I will give this 88/100 (22/22/22/22).
