Review #867
This has matured in French oak, before receiving a finish in PX Sherry casks for 1-1½ years. It is 4 years old, and only 500 bottles were made of this batch. Loads of sweetness from the dried fruits at first in the smell. Some marzipan mixes with the dried fruits.
Very sweet in the taste with a smooth mouth texture. Chocolate and dried fruits, but it is mostly the sweetness from the latter, that are in focus. Sweet raisins in particular, in the finish, where the oak comes a bit forward as well.
When this gets some more age and sophistication, it will become a heavyweight contestant! I can understand why this already is a popular expression. I will give this 86/100 (22/21/22/21).
