Review #937 (2023)
This is aged for a minimum six months in new American oak casks, and then finished in used American oak casks that previously held rum. A mix of spices and citrusy notes in the smell.
Oak, oak spices and white fruits in the taste. The rum influence is easily overlooked. The finish is long and really showcase the “Rye-character” in this whiskey, with a little Rum touch in the background.
This is just above average from start to finish. I probably wouldn’t get the Rum finish in a blind tasting, but knowing it’s there, and what to look for, I think it gives a nice little touch to the whiskey. I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
