Review #690 (2018)
This is Chapter III in the series and is called “The Fiendish Finale”. It consists of 21 casks – 8 sherry casks, 8 French oak barriques and 5 Bourbon barrels. 6660 bottles were made. Some white fruits and hints of soap (!?) at first in the smell. Then it gets sweet with some orange and grapefruit on the side. Do I detect some juniper as well? A very different Arran judging by the nose!
Perfume in the taste. First thing I notice! White fruits, peppery spices and some citrusy notes. Some exotic fruits and vanilla in the finish, but still the focus is on the floral and perfume notes. Maybe I´m too sensitive…
It´s not a bad (quality) dram, but all those floral and perfumy notes just doesn’t do it for me… And how this should be associated with the Devil is a mystery to me – I would expect dark flavours etc, but that has nothing to do with the whisky, so never mind about that… I will give this 82/100 (20/20/21/21).
