Review #896 (2022)
This is a peated single malt whisky, matured for 6 years and 3 months in a 2nd fill ex-Bourbon quartercask, then finished for 1 year and 4 months in two 2nd fill PX Sherry casks (50 liters each). Only 198 bottles were made. Very easy on the nose. Mostly wet grass. Then some citrusy notes and caramel in the background.
A bit of sweetness comes forward in the taste, accompanied by the citrusy notes. Just faint hints of smoke in the finish, where hints of raisins joins as well. There’s a fine balance between the (very) light smoke and the different casks.
If you are looking for a peated Sherry-bomb, you will be disappointed… The smoky notes are very light, and most (as in almost all) of the cask influence, is from the ex-Bourbon quartercasks. If you take it for what it is, it’s a fine dram (light smoky, citrusy and a little sweet), but unfortunately nothing more than that… I will give this 80/100 (19/20/20/21).
