Review #844 (2021)
This peated version from Glasgow Distillery, is matured in virgin oak casks, and finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. Thick syrupy-like smell. Dried fruits and light meaty peat. Some oak and oak spices in the background.
The peat is the first that hits my palate. A bit more forward in the taste, compared to the smell. Dried fruits and leather. Quite dry in the finish, where some vanilla and spices joins the show. Cinnamon and black pepper.
I am convinced – Glasgow Distillery master the art of peated whisky as well. And a great example as well, where either the peat nor the PX casks overwhelms the flavours in the whisky, but compliment each other very well. I will give this 87/100 (22/22/22/21).
