Review #920 (2023)
This is from the series “The Casks of Lindores”. It is matured in STR Wine Barrique casks. Soft, yet full of flavours in the smell. Red berries and dried fruits. A nice sour touch in the background.
The taste follows the nose quite nicely. Besides the red fruits, some spices and oak comes forward, with just a touch of shortbread in the background. The finish is nice and long, with the fruits and spices lingering out, joined by a bit of sweetness.
It’s easy to understand why new distilleries are falling head over heals for these STR casks, as the amount of flavours in such a young whisky is nothing but quite impressive! I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
