Review #898 (2022)
This is matured in a mix of American and European Oloroso Sherry casks. A pleasant mix of vanilla, honey and raisins in the smell. Very refreshing!
Much like the smell, the taste is full of honey – both sweetness and mouthfeel – and dried fruits. Hints of spices as well. The finish is tasty, but suffers a bit, due to the low strength. The oak spices is the last to leave.
Even though it is bottled at 40%, it is still full of flavours and have a great mouthfeel. I really enjoy the Double Cask range, as the balance between the American and European oak is fantastic. This is a great whisky for many occasions, and a great “starter”. I will give this 84/100 (21/21/21/21).
