Review #881
This is finished in Bourbon casks (#313250-56) and is called “100 U.K. Proof”. Peat, alcohol, vanilla and some nutty notes in the smell. Not as vanilla sweet as Caol Ila peat usually is.
A fantastic kick of peat and alcohol at first in the taste. The finish is long and warm, and changes from a mouth full of oily peat, to more darker notes, with spices, anise and hints of almonds in the background.
This is rawer and more aggressive than the normal Caol Ila. A great expression full of power and flavours. I’m getting more and more intrigued by every sip I take! A must try for Caol Ila fans. I will give this 88/100 (21/22/23/22).
