Review #879
This is finished in a cask (with the cask number 803511) that previously held Caol Ila single malt whisky. Light vegetation, honey and mild smoke on the nose. Just a touch of light citrus in the background, that goes quite well with the sweetness.
It is more flavourful in the taste. The peaty notes come forward and compliment the sweetness. Hints of some sour and bitter notes as well. Medium length finish, however, quite mild… More or less just the sweet peaty notes staying behind.
Even though it is 48%, it’s a bit weak in the smell and the finish is very one-sided… If you want a light, sweet, straight forward peaty dram, this is fine. However, are you looking for something a bit more complex, this is probably not it. I will give this 81/100 (20/21/20/20).
