Review #858 (2021)
This is from the ”Entomology Series” by Liquid Treasures, and is matured in a ex-Bourbon hogshead. Islay peat at first in the smell. Actually not very aggressive, considering the high ABV and the fact that it is Islay peat! Some white fruits and a bit of ashes and citrus as well.
Hit you in the head with a peat shovel at first sip!! Loads of peat, some white fruits and a little bit of spices in the taste. A bit of marzipan and sour notes in the finish. The peat lingers off, with a bit of spices on the side.
I really like the aggressive approach this whisky offers. Quite simple whisky, but very quality. The label is full of flowers and butterflies – that is NOT what I imagine when drinking this! Islay whisky, like it’s supposed to be. I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
