Review #885 (2022)
A peated expression from Paul John, bottled at generous 55.5%. Peat, a bit of ash and white fruits in the smell. Some earthy notes as well in the background. It’s quite mild, both in the peat, and with regards to the high ABV.
Here we go! Much more flavour in the taste! Peat, baked apples, thick marmalade and hay. The finish leaves you with the peat fading out, while some sugary notes comes forward. Vanilla and a bit of chocolate in the background.
This may start a bit slow, but it sure finish strong! Nice and oily, with good punch of peat and sweetness even Caol Ila will envy. This is not the first, nor the last time I will pour myself a glass of peated Paul John! I will give this 87/100 (21/22/22/22).
