Even though it is 46%, it is quite mild on <strong>the nose<\/strong>. Corn, white fruits and citrusy\/sour oak notes in the smell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some sweetness comes forward at first in <strong>the taste<\/strong>, alongside some lemongrass (and sour oak again?). Some nuts as well. <strong>The finish<\/strong> is warm and spicy, and in my opinion, the best part of this whisky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I just can\u2019t help getting these citrusy\/sour oak notes in Balcones, which I don\u2019t really care for. It\u2019s a matter of taste of course, but for my palate, it\u2019s too much. So much fine Bourbon out there, so unless the flavour profile changes, it\u2019s not likely I will come back to this expression\u2026 I will give this <strong>80\/100<\/strong> (19\/20\/21\/20).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Review #860 (2021) This is made purely from pot stills and is a straight Bourbon whisky.
