Review #922 (2023)
This is matured in a single Bourbon cask, exclusively for the Danish market. Even though it’s cask strength, it’s quite mild on the nose. Baked apples, oak and malt.
Hot at first, but quickly turns to oak and malt with a smoky touch in the taste. Very simple, but it’s working. The finish is a continuation of the flavours, but it gets a bit more spicy. The spices and oak combined with the cask strength is really working here.
French whisky is not widely known, but in a blind tasting, nobody would doubt this to be a scotch whisky. Whiskies from around the world is just getting better and better at making whisky, and many do it the traditional way. A simple, but good whisky, that wins by being cask strength! I will give this 84/100 (20/22/21/21).
