Review #755 (2019)
A single cask bottled from a hogshead, for the series “Melon Vine”. Only 242 bottles were made. Clean and crisp on the nose, with loads of white fruits. Then some melons, apritcots and some white chocolate.
You get some more action in the taste. Not so “clean” anymore, but in a good way, with a rough touch (also due to the alcohol coming forward). Spices (mostly peppery) with the white fruits peeping out again. Some oak and toffee in the finish, which unfortunately is a bit too short to be really good…
It´s a fine dram, but for an old single malt (and for the price) I would expect a bit more. To be fair, it does get better after some time in the glass, and the time in the cask starts to show a bit more. I will give this 84/100 (21/22/21/20).
